Oklahoma Trip

Road trip up to Oklahoma City (3 hours) in a rental car.
Elaine, Allan and Gramps in his backyard.
Allan was playing some domino-like game with Gramps.
Before church started, we took some pictures in the children's section of the church gift shop.

...the Car.

Dad  found us a 2007 Pontiac G6. It's very nice. The car is paid in full (both my parents helped), so no credit drama. Jimmy and I realized this is the first vehicle we've ever had that has a CD player instead of a tape deck. *Fancy*  :)
My feet don't touch the floor in the front seat... so yes, there is plenty of leg room. There's a sun roof, which Jimmy likes. The trunk has proven to be large enough for a trip to Costco. Dad had the dealership love on the car before we picked it up, so it'd be in tip top shape.

The Van, The Truck.... The Car

Our van needed new bushings, engine mounts and more. Our mechanics at Christian Brothers recommended we give up on that van. It was a sinking ship and even with repairs would not keep going for too much longer. They said it could leave us stranded at any time & with Jimmy driving as far as he does, he could be stranded pretty much anywhere in the metroplex. With that said, we decided to buy a new vehicle.

We asked my dad, who works at a car dealership, to help up locate an affordable & reliable one that will fit our family. He found one for us pretty quickly, so we planned a visit to fetch the car a few weeks down the line.

In the meantime, our friend/my boss, Rick, loaned Jimmy his spare truck, a red Ford F150. Jimmy used this truck for about two weeks, then was in a car accident in Rick's truck. No one was injured.

It was the day after it snowed here, so the road was slick with oil. Jimmy slid into a car in front of him. It was an accident, of coarse, but technically Jim's fault. So, now we're all dealing with paperwork to do with this car wreck. Rick's truck is totaled.  (I took pictures when the truck was towed to our house.)

Everyone had liability insurance. The three different insurance companies bickered about what each one is responsible for (3 = Rick, Jim, the guy Jim hit).  Jim's insurance is covering the car Jim hit. Rick's insurance is covering Rick's truck, Jimmy was driving.  I think... I may have those backwards. Either way, Jimmy's boss says the packaging company will cover the deductibles since Jimmy was working at the time of the wreck.

That covers the Van and the Truck... next is the car.

Random kid stuff

Elaine was babysitting our snails while Jimmy cleaned their tank. About a week or so after this picture our beta fish, Betty, died. We saw it coming. His fins were getting smaller, like shriveling up. His color was becoming more pale and he couldn't control the direction he was swimming well anymore. Neither kid cried over the fish. The snails seem perfectly content. We put algae wafers in their tank, so they still have something to eat (without a fish there to produce waist).

Kids before banquet

the kids were the waitstaff for a Valentines banquet at Rick's church to raise money for them to each go to Summer camp.
They are going to RA & GA camp again this year (both went last year) and also to the same camp only Elaine went to last year. Allan's older, so he can go this time around. The two camps are back to back, so we'll only have the kids for like 2 days in between the different camps.

Work stuff fm February

I picked out a cupid outfit for Courtney to wear on Valentines Day to work. :) We had fun. She hadn't EVER shot a bow & arrow. I had to teach her... it was hilarious. I kept saying, "Haven't you ever seen Robin Hood?" -Nope!
