this week

Yvette gave her two weeks notice at work. She's the other Assistant manager. Yvie is going to bartending school (we now know), and that's gonna lead to a job that can pay her better. She joked, "when I fit ballet shoes on someone, they don't tip well." She's likely to actually stay 3 weeks, but she said that's her limit. Since giving the news on Saturday, she's kinda sharing all her reasons for quitting with me and the other employees, which puts us all in a funk. Like, do we all want to hear about the perks of her new career while we are still all working here? I think it's unprofessional. For the couple weeks she's still at the store, she is only working nights and weekends. So that means I am working the morning shifts, except on weekends. It's been nice being home for dinner all this week.
Rick hired a new girl, Kelly. She started on Monday. Today was only her second day. She seems very nice and outgoing. So that's awesome. We are already training her on register. She might be the next assistant manager, if her training goes well. Rick said he had another qualified applicant, who he is likely to hire as well. I hope both the new girls learn quickly. October is just around the corner.
I've tried to catch up on my projects at home. I have some dresses of Elaine's that need mending. I need to work on Hope's aprons. I have done a little scrapbooking this week. I worked on organizing our file cabinets and coupons... just paper piling up around the house. I've been scanning baby pictures of Dave on my scanner, while watching tv episodes on my office computer. www.Abc.com has episodes of Lost, Brothers&Sisters and Grey's Anatomy.

Yesterday, Elaine walked up to me out of no where and asked "Are we Mexicans? Because I would eat Mexican rice." I have no idea why she was asking about Mexian rice, because she never would try eatting it before and we made hamburgers for dinner, so the topic seemed out of no where! :)
Today, I had to come in to work (on my day off) because someone called in sick. I only worked til 2:30pm, so I was there when Elaine got out of school. She hopped in the van and said, "Today people were wondering why I have marker on my feet." Her one-liners crack me up!

I buzzed Allan's hair off over the weekend. It's very short. When people ask him where his hair went, he says "It's just my haircut. I look Cu-ute!"

Scrapbooking with the Cricut

I bought myself a Cricut Create machine. I've wanted to get one of the Cricut machines for a while. It sells elsewhere for $399.99 and I bought it at Walmart for $184! Halfprice! :) The machine cuts out letters and shapes from scrapbooking paper. I can cut them in different sizes and fonts. I love it. I wont need to buy alphabet stickers for my scrapbooks because I can just cut out the words I want. It also does some shapes.
Here are some scrapbook layouts I've done so far with the Cricut.

1) I cut out the letter 'L' from the title and the negative space that says "ouch ouch"

2) I cut out "special" , "DELIVERY" and "Allan" all with the one font cartridge I have. The machine has different settings, so I can stretch and change the fonts to make them look different.

3) I cut out the entire title, the red tag, and the 2 daisies.

4) I cut out the Stars with the cricut.

5) I cut out the title, "Month in Costume" with the cricut.

These are just two other scrapbook layouts I did before getting the Cricut. I used sticker letters for the titles and phrases.

*Does anyone know WHEN these pictures of Elaine and Allan were taken? From her hair length, I think it's Fall of 2007 , when I first worked at the store. They are cooking on the Animal-face pancake skillet from Hope (or maybe the Christmas-characters skillet??).

In other news: Elaine's school was closed for most of last week for Swine Flu. We decided she needed a project to keep her entertained. Jim and I took Elaine to Michael's and let her pick out a bundle of bargain beads and a bead organizer. She and Allan enjoyed separating the beads by type. I was surprised how well Allan did. He totally understood what the different categories were. Later, Elaine made me a necklace with all her seafoam-colored beads for Mother's Day.

Haven't posted Any Scrapbook Layouts in a Long While

Lately, I have been scrapbooking a lot of pictures from 2008. There are some exceptions in here. I didn't take the layouts out of their album when I took these photos, so there may be some glare from the plastic here & there. As always, clicking on the pictures gives you a larger view of them.

I did this Layout Saturday night. The pics are from April 2008.

These pictures are from March 2009. It's my family at the park with Pam's kids.

These pictures are from March of 2008 and August of 2007.

I did this Layout Saturday night. The pictures are from April of 2008. We used my retro (metal) hair rollers in Elaine's hair, and we buzzed Allan's hair off like a rockstar.

The park Fall 2008.

January 2008, right after our trip to Florida. We had to open the presents that were still in Denton.
