Bunny Aprons and Vests

We get cabin fever at work. Sewing, sewing and more sewing. Wearing the aprons and bows seemed like a way to spice up the day on Monday.

WOW!

I'm full of pride.

I got a 100% on my first Statistics Exam!!!

The test was two weeks ago. I was absent from class last Thursday night, so I didn't know this until today (I saw it online).

--------------------
I thought Allan's favorite blue shoes seemed snug. They are 9 1/2's. So when my family came to fetch me from work yesterday, I measured Allan's feet in our shoe department. He measured at a 10 1/2! His toes must've been smushed in his blue shoes, but he never complained. Last night, I dug into the hand-me-downs and pulled him out 3 bigger pairs of shoes.
Elaine has been wearing 10's but measured at a 11 1/2!! I don't get why she didn't complain. She's usually so vocal. We're gonna have to get her new shoes, since she doesn't get hand-me-down shoes from Kaylee any more. Elaine's feet have been bigger than Kaylee's for a while now.

Jim says that whenever we get the tax refund, he is gonna get tires for this van and new break pads. (If this all sounds familiar, Hope and Scott got us new tires for the blue van right before the wreck.) Jim thinks he can put on the new break pads himself, but "wont do anything stupid".
--------------
I think that when I cut my hair for 'Locks of Love' (some time after graduation), I'll do a retro hairstyle. Elaine is growing her hair out for the same reason. The minimum donation length is 10 inches.

On Monday Elaine came home from school wearing a star-shaped paper necklace with a penny hot-glued to the center. She said that her necklace had Abraham Lincoln on it. "He's dead, because he got shot. But it's okay, because he's getting better now." :))

p.s. I got a 93% on this week's Spanish 4 quiz.

What's up at Work

I've been sewing vests, aprons and bows/bow ties for the Easter Bunny costumes that we rent out.
Rows of Bows

In the center of this one, I put a cross.

I made the pocket functional. Might as well be cute and hold the bunny's cellphone.

Middle of this bow says "JOHN 3:16"

Recent Pics

Monday Night Allan wore his purple backpack, got paper for a map and wore a pirate hat, then watched his video of Dora's Pirate Adventure.

Elaine and I went to the neighborhood park on Monday.

The kids on Sunday.

I painted the store-front window the first week of February, for the store's 29th Anniversary.

I should be at class tonight...

But the doc today said that I have a upper respiratory infection. Since I have a doctor note, I thought I'd spend the night in bed and do some healing/reading my textbooks.

After class today, I filed some paperwork with my adviser, so now that one computer skills class is counted as an elective that's only graded as "pass or no pass". That takes some pressure off of me to make a great grade, since it wont help or hurt my GPA.
Then I walked up to the Student Health and Wellness Center. It has a new building. It's very nice inside and out. At 2pm I went to the phone-bank to call in for a doctor appointment. While I was there on the phone with the operator, someone else canceled their doctor appointment for 2:15pm. I got to see the nurse around 2:30 and saw the doctor around 3:00pm.
He said that since my kids and I both have runny noses and that I'm not experiencing strong nasal pain, then my problem is probably viral, not bacterial. He said that I have an upper respiratory infection. It's probably viral, so antibiotics shouldn't help. He said for me to take Sudafed and zinc cough drops.
But the doc went ahead and wrote me a prescription for antibiotics in case I get sinus pain later (save me a trip back to see him). I'm getting back to bed, since I have work tomorrow.

exhausted.

I'm fighting off a cold. I'm trying to get a doctor's appointment for tomorrow. I called the Wellness Center on campus, since I can see a doc for free (my tuition covers it) and it only costs additional $ for low-cost lab tests or to fill prescriptions. There weren't any open appointments, so I am hoping someone cancels their appointment. *cross your fingers*

Normally I just roll with the punches when it comes to being sick. I'm struggling to keep my head above water. I've had this bug since last Friday. It hurts to swallow, I have sinus drainage, body aches and I've been coughing. I take daytime and nighttime cold syrups when they are appropriate, and I've been using Chloraseptic spray on my throat.

I haven't been able to rest like I should. My good friend Regina cracked one of her lower ribs, so I covered for her at work Tuesday afternoon. Tomorrow I don't work. I just have my class in the afternoon at UNT and Statistics class that night at NCTC. I should have time for that doctor's appointment and a good nap between classes. :)

In other news:
We paid back the loan from Big Allan. Jim got the oil changed in the van. And Elaine has a Valentines party tomorrow at School.
I'm getting back to my homework

Party with Spiderman at Rick & Regina's house

Friday night, we went to Noah's birthday party.

Noah wore his Spiderman suit for a while.

Allan with Spiderman

Elaine with Spiderman

Regina, their youngest son Christopher, their grandson Noah and Rick.

Allan and Elaine played with this guitar off and on all night. Micah would be proud.

------------------------------------------------------------
Later Friday night, I put myself to bed at 10pm because I felt worn out from the festivities. Then at 1:30am, I woke up with gross sinus drainage down the back of my throat and bad body aches. Allan had crawled in bed with me that night. He was snoring badly and coughing too. When I checked, his nose was running. So I started him on some baby Tylenol sinus stuff. Saturday I wasn't scheduled to work until Noon, so Allan and I got to sleep-in late. But I still felt miserable. Jim bought me a bunch of goodies from the Drug Emporium, like cough drops, vitamin C caplets, daytime cough syrup, and nighttime cough syrup. I only had to work 5 hours on Saturday, so I didn't call in sick (plus it was payday).
This morning Allan is super snotty and coughing, so I figured he can't go to church and be in the church nursery with the other kiddos (contagious??). It's Jimmy's turn to work with the elementary school kids, so he couldn't skip church. So Jimmy took Elaine to church and I'm here watching Allan and doing some homework.

Jimmy did our taxes online yesterday through H&R Block. Since our income is under an certain amount, we can file our taxes online through H&R Block for free. We should get a good refund because of having two kiddos and me being a student.

My school financial aide was processed quicker than I expected. It was supposed to take 2 weeks before I'd know how much our refund would be. Then it was supposed to take another week for the $ to reach the bank account.

The good news: We got $ to reimburse me for what I paid out-of-pocket for tuition to NCTC ($260) and Midland College ($240), what I paid for books (about $200) and a little extra to help with living expenses. I think our first goal is gonna be to pay back "Big Allan" for what he loaned me in August.
I'm glad about the school money coming through, because I think I'm gonna go see an optometrist and see if I still need glasses. I lost my glasses in 2001 and have been doing without since then.

The bad news: With the money currently in our bank account, we wont qualify for food stamps right now. Their income guidelines are pretty picky. The same would also be true once the tax refund comes. We might try again for food stamps this summer when I'm getting less financial assistance from elsewhere.

Very brief update

Last night I took my first exam for Statistics. I feel really good about it. :) I'll let yall know how the grade is when I get it.

Today I am closing the store without Rick and Regina. Christina will be with me. But I'm the only one trained on the register, locking up procedures, etc. I'm glad they are giving me more responsibility. Tonight is Rick & Regina's grandson's birthday party. My kids are invited. I heard a rumor that Spiderman will make an appearance. I'll take pics. gotta run.
