Any ideas??!!?!

I have to do an "advocacy project" for my theatre class. I have to do a persuasive presentation that has something to do with theatre. I'm stumped coming up with a topic. *HELP!*

For the sake of the project, any kind of performance counts as theatre. That includes films, puppetry, street performers...whatever.

Past topics have been: how casting shouldn't be done just based on an actress's looks. There should be a Tony award for stage management. Films shouldn't have ratings.

It's hard to come up with topics in theatre that I'm passionate about. I'm not an actress; I don't want to write about injustices in casting or ageism.
Any ideas??

Easter Pic

The church took family pics again this year. We usually get them within a couple weeks of Easter.

I got the kids the bunny ears from work. When I first put Allan in the pink shirt, he screamed and cried. He didn't like the buttons on his wrists. But once I pulled out the pairs of bunny ears, he forgot about hating the buttons. Allan grabbed the PINK ears (to match his shirt?!?) and wore them, hopping through the house. Elaine made the trade to get the pink pair before we left for church.
I didn't let them wear the ears out of the van, but they loved them.

Elaine's Hair Salon

I buzzed off Allan's hair all short, so it will look clean cut for Easter. Elaine wanted me to cut her hair too.

She said that if we cut her hair off and give it to "the people who can't grow hair", then she can grow NEW hair for more people who can't grow hair. I talked her into just playing with curlers instead of cutting her hair any time soon.

Kite Day/Easter Egg Hunt, etc

While I was at work, Jim took the kids to an event at Rick & Regina's church on Saturday. Scheduled events included a puppet show of the Easter story, an Easter egg hunt, free hot dogs and kite flying.

Jim took his stunt kite and did a little display for the folks. his kite got wrapped around a tree, but Jim and the pastor got it loose undamaged. The church loaned all the kids kites to fly. Elaine flew a VeggieTale one and Allan flew a Spiderman one.

During the puppet show, Allan and Elaine were very focussed, when other kids were trying to grab at the puppets. The adults hid eggs while the puppet show was going on. Elaine and Allan hunted eggs in different areas (for different age groups). Jimmy stayed with Allan, and Elaine was watched by Regina.

Elaine quickly filled her Easter basket with eggs, so Regina emptied the eggs into a Kroger bag and sent Elaine back out to re-fill her empty basket
. The other kids kept grabbing the eggs before Elaine could get more. Lainey came back crying, "They wont let me get any!". Right then, Jimmy and Allan returned. Jimmy thought Elaine didn't get any eggs at all... then Regina showed Jimmy Elaine's huge stash of eggs/candy. Jimmy saw the stash and was like, "What are you crying about?!" :)

It sounds like they all had a good time.

At our church today, I took some pictures of the kids playing in the yard.
They were tossing bouncy balls (shaped like eggs) around.

In other news: I got a D on my recent Statistics exam. :( So far, I have about an 80 or 85% average for the class. I think my absence the day I went to the doctor's office, made it too hard to catch up on the missed lecture. I'll aim high on the next exam. :)

Strange But True

We usually get just our internet and cable from Charter. But Charter offered us a great deal for switching to a "bundle".
If we add a home phone line to what we already get from Charter, our bill will be LESS each month than it is now. So regardless of how often we use the land line, just having it is saving us money. We'll save about $250 in the next year. How weird is that?!?!
---------------------------------
I've been sick with a runny nose since the snow melted away. I hoped it's just allergies, but I've had fevers too. I don't think fevers come with allergies. I'm trying to rest when I can.

My bosses are going out of town for 3 days next week, leaving me to run the store. My co-worker is only gonna work with me one day next week. She's going on a canoe trip the rest of the week. There's a teenage girl, who is friendly with my two bosses, who is supposed to help me 2 days during Spring Break. (Did I mention that it's Spring Break next week?)
Pray for improving my health, clarity, nice customers, and confidence.

Elaine got this dress from my boss, Regina. The Balloon is from Regina training me to inflate balloons at work today.
The kids got a care package from Hope & Scott today. The Easter bunny for Allan is holding a little football. It's very cute. Allan yelled at the bunny, "That's my ball. Let go. Let go!"

Mmmm Sammmmmich

Al Pal is a Pirate... in case you didn't know

He pushed his pirate boat around the living room carpet for about 30 minutes, saying "Yohoho!". He even put one of those Free Orange Kroger stickers over one of his eyes for an eyepatch. Then when it was bath time, the pirate fun continued. He held his pirate bought near the bathtub and insisted, "Ocean! ocean!" So, in the pirate ship went.

::RANDOM PICS FROM WORK::
lookie: We're re-stocking wigs. :)

p.s. We got the addresses in the mail from my mom, for everyone on her side of the family that will need to get a graduation announcement. I got a flier in the mail with details about ordering the announcements, but I don't know the location of my graduation ceremony (which building on campus), so we can't fill in the info for the graduation announcements yet.

just some stuff

The shop didn't open today until 11:30am. Most of the snow was off of the pavement, so it was pretty safe to drive around again. There were broken down cars along the road every few miles on the way to work. We could tell from the tracks in the snow that the cars had each spun out of control. I'm glad we were home last night during all the crazy driving conditions.

Today at work I closed the store for the second time ever. It was easy this time around, since I had a check-list. I'm super excited about work right now. The shop received lots of boxes to re-stock accessories. They have more bunny ears just in time for Easter. I know, this probably sounds like silly stuff to be excited about. But I'm happy when we don't have to tell customers that the store is sold out of stuff.

Tonight I'm working on some Statistics homework that is due tomorrow.
---------------------------------------------------
Elaine brought this paper home on Thursday from school. She was super upset that there is an 'X' at the top of the page... next to the check. We had a hard time telling her that it's a "+" and that's a good thing.

7 inches of snow... and counting! (In March!?!?!)

It sleeted for two hours this morning, then stopped. On the way to my class around noon it started to lightly sleet. Then ten minutes into class, it began to snow. Jim called me in class to warn me that the snow is sticking on the ground. A few of the students (including myself) received text messages from UNT letting us know that campus (all the offices, classrooms and libraries) will close at 2pm. My class let out at 2pm and Jimmy very slowly drove us home. My night class at NCTC was also canceled (an exam!!), so I was able to play with the kids in the snow instead of studying for tonight. Steven called us and said that Denton is supposed to get up to 10 inches of snow tonight. It's 36 degrees right now.
I talked to Regina a few times this afternoon. Rick and she shut down the store 3 hours early today, because they were afraid they wouldn't be able to get home once the snow continues. They are gonna call me about any special work schedule that might happen tomorrow.

Jim and I made a snowman on the deck. Then elaine added the "ears" and "hands" for it to be poohbear. I sent Jim into the house to find something for eyes, and he came back with lids from jars.

Elaine behind me is looking pretty aggressive with that snowball. I wonder if Allan was standing behind me, below Elaine. Hmmm?

My very deep footprint.

Our back yard.
I made about a quart of hot cocoa to warm everyone up. By the way, Allan dressed himself this morning, including picking out his clothes. He didn't care what we layered on him as long as he could keep on the Maui shirt. When he first walked in wearing it this morning, it was on upside down. :)

Elaine had picture day again at school today. They were just supposed to take the large class photo. But from her description, it sounds like they also took individual photos.
